After-shoot Review

  • This was literally the weirdest/hardest/most soul-crushing wedding I've ever shot (which is really saying something considering I've shot 200 weddings). Since I dont normally do these sort of one-off mercenary contractor jobs for a different studio, I dont know you, and your web presence is very limited, I feel like I need to protect myself a little bit. I've heard all sorts of horror stories of people getting screwed over with similar types of situations and given how beyond-the-pale this one was I can't afford to be exposed.

I got crystal clear audio (lav mics on officiant and groom at ceremony - as well as a direct feed from the sound board and ambient room mics). I wasnt allowed to hook into the sound system at the reception but put Lav mics on both the MC / best man (Dale) and the host / maid of honor (Karen). I asked them easily 3 times if anyone besides Dale was going to be giving speeches (and it wasnt until the 3rd time that I asked that I found out Karen would be speaking as well). A couple other random (drunk) people got up to speak, but you can hear them very well on the lav mics (since Dale and Karen were standing right next to them) as well as on the camera audio (shotgun mic on the tight shot and ambient mic right next to the PA speaker on the wide cam).

I dont even know where to start with trying to give you context for everything else, but you'll see once you start reviewing the proxies. It was a drunken/disorganized shitshow with a bride who was constantly taking selfies/"creating content" and a bridal party that was emotionally checked out from the jump. The reception venue folks couldnt stand them, and there seemed to be a real disconnect with what was really happening (shoestring DIY shotgun wedding) with what the bride thought was happening (royal wedding). I got great footage all things considered. That being said please let me know when I can delete the files on my end as I have no desire to use this for anything, or watch them again :)

I shot the A cam in HD at 60fps and the B cam in 4k at 24fps.
